Music & Mosaic Concert Series: Del Pasado al Presente
Saturday, April 28, 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Kick off the 2012 season of the Music & Mosaic Concert Series at Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens with a night celebrating Mexican culture.  “Del Pasado al Presente” (Past to Present) is part of the citywide De Pueblo a Pueblo Mexican celebration.  Watch traditional Aztec dance rituals to the sounds of handmade flutes with performers from Ollin Yoliztli Calmecac, and enjoy concheros dances by the talented young women of Tonantzin Coatlicue.   Tap your feet to the dynamic sounds of Grupa Cuestion Nortena, our festive closing act.  All Music & Mosaic Concerts are BYOB, so don’t forget to bring your drink of choice!
Chaquira Bead Folk Art Workshop with Brujo de la Mancha
Saturday May 19, 11:00AM- 4:00PM and Sunday, May 20, 11:00 AM- 4:00PM

Director of Ollin Yoliztli Calmecac, Brujo de la Mancha, will be te leading a Chaquira beading class at Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens. Chaquira beads are tiny, brightly colored beads wich are used in traditional Latin American crafts, especially in Mexican folk art.  Gernerally, the size of small seeds, chaquira beads allow artisans to craft incredibly detailed, complex patterns.  Join Mexican-born artist Brujo, as he guides you to create your own traditional Chaquira design during this one or two-day workshop.

Cost for one-day workshop is $100/members, $120/non-members.  Cost for two-day workshop is $170/members, $190/non-members.
